Parent Coaching

We provide Parent/Caregiver Coaching to families to elevate the therapy their child receives. This is a collaborative and supportive approach where parents and caregivers learn strategies to help their children achieve goals and navigate daily life.

It focuses on empowering parents and caregivers with knowledge, skills, and resources to support their child's development and well-being. This approach is personalized, solution-focused, and aims to build parents' confidence and competence in supporting their children.

Key aspects of Parent Coaching

Collaborative and individualized

OTs work with parents to identify priorities, strengths, and challenges, tailoring strategies to their specific needs.

Focus on practical strategies

Emphasizes evidence-based strategies parents can implement at home and in daily routines.

Building confidence and competence

Through education, guidance, and support, parents feel more confident managing challenges effectively.

Promoting participation in therapy

Encourages parents to actively participate in their child's therapy, supporting progress in and outside sessions.

How Parent Coaching works

1

Initial assessment and goal-setting

OTs work with parents to understand their child's needs, strengths, goals, and the family's priorities.

2

Education and strategy development

OTs provide guidance on child development, sensory processing, behaviour management, and self-regulation.

3

Skill practice and implementation

Parents practice strategies with the OT's support, gradually implementing them into daily routines.

4

Ongoing support and follow-up

OTs provide ongoing support to ensure parents feel confident and equipped to continue supporting their child's progress.

Your therapist provides parent coaching during and at the end of your child's therapy session. We also host parent coaching workshops — contact the office for the next one.
